LETTER OF INVITATIONDear friend and colleague,

we are pleased to invite you to participate in TICCIH 2006, the XIII Congress of The International Committee for the Conservation of Industrial Heritage, which will be held in Italy from 14 to 23 of September 2006. The scientific part of the Congress will be held in Terni from Thursday 14 to Monday on 18 of September in the afternoon. Sunday 17 September will be dedicated to official meetings and visits in Rome. Other visits to industrial heritage sites in the areas surround-ing Terni will be made during the Congress. This programme will be followed by post-congress tours with the possibility of choosing between: (a) a short trip beginning on 18 of September in the afternoon and finishing on 20 of September. This includes visits to the most impor-tant industrial sites and museums in Naples, the Reggia di Caserta and S. Leucio silk mill, and also the Amalfi coast. (b) a longer trip beginning on 18 of September in the afternoon and finishing on 23 of September. This includes some of the main Italian industrial centres and artistic cities: Florence, Prato, Bologna, Venice, Schio, Crespi d’Adda, Sesto San Giovanni, Milan, Biella, Turin and Genoa. The tour ends in Rome, though delegates many choose to depart from Milan on 21 of September. The TICCIH 2006 Work Group and Organising Committee have drawn up a wide-ranging programme of academic activities, scientif-ic visits and events that will allow participants to establish contacts, exchange information, and compare different experiences at both national and international levels. The topics that will be discussed in plenary and other parallel ses-sions are described in a brief summary included in this brochure. This also contains the Congress registration form and session application form. Abstracts of all proposed papers must be sent to the Organising Committee within 30 November 2005. Acceptance of papers will be decided by the Organising Committee whose decision will be com-municated before the 15 of February 2006. An Industrial Heritage Exhibition will be organised alongside the Congress to provide participants with the latest updates on recent projects and attainments taking
This brochure contains all information concerning the organisation of the Congress. A second brochure with more detailed information will be sent in November 2005 to all who return the provisionalapplication form included in the brochure within 15 October 2005. It is extremely important for the organisation to receive all information concerning participants before this date in order to lower the organi-sational costs and to ensure the best possible quality of service. The final registration will be made from November 2005 to May 2006. Those who will confirm their participation will receive a third brochure in May 2006, containing the final Congress programme. On behalf of the TICCIH 2006 Work Group, we look forward to welcoming you to Italy in September 2006.

Kind regards,
